I am a Georgia native who was raised in Florida. I had a bit of the wanderlust as a young adult which led me to travel the country from coast to coast with various musical artists. My wandering years were followed by short stints living in Austin and Nashville. I also spent a year traveling the eastern seaboard with the circus as a marketing director. It is there where I met and married my Moroccan acrobat husband. I guess you could say I fell head over heels for him! We married in August 1988 and returned to Florida where we settled in Orlando to be near my family and raise two extraordinary sons.
Having come from a long line of artists, I have always been naturally creative. My grandmother was a gifted landscape artist, I have cousins who are professional graphic artists, sculptors and mosaic artists. My own father created intriguing abstract oil paintings. I have been artistic all my life whether I was creating as a stylist in Nashville or a home decorator in Florida. I dabbled in art journaling, spent time creating mixed media pieces and had a season of black and white illustration work which resulted in a self published coloring book.
Several years ago, after both parents passed, I couldn’t shake the feeling that Florida no longer felt like home. To be honest, it never had. My father had been born and raised to adulthood in Georgia and my husband has often teased that I am not a Floridian because I just have too much Georgian blood. I have always yearned for more hills and the constant beauty and anticipation of having four distinct seasons! To my dismay, Florida has only 2 seasons…Summer and less Summer. My oldest son relocated to Atlanta to pursue his career as a film producer/editor extraordinaire in 2016. After one particular trip to visit in the Fall of 2017, I fell madly in love with Roswell, Georgia. We found the perfect home nestled in the woods with walls of windows in every room. It was then that I knew that this was the “home” I had been yearning for. In January 2018, I returned “home” to Georgia. My love of art exploded with the new inspiration all around me. I spent hours every day in my treetop studio painting joyful watercolor bouquets. I also rediscovered my love for acrylic painting and have been creating a series of abstracts, cityscapes and wild florals using only palette knives and a credit card! I now spend my days blissfully creating in my art studio in our beloved treehouse in the quaint rolling hills of Historic Roswell, Georgia. You could say I’m living my happily ever after every day!
